The son of King Uther Pendragon was Arthur Pendragon and he was the future heir to the throne. But these were difficult times and a wise and clever magician named Merlin suggested that Arthur, as a baby, should grow up in secrecy.
When King Uther died, there was a huge fight about who the next king would be. Merlin used his strong magic to place a sword straight into a stone. On the sword it said: “Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone, is the right wise born king of all England”. All of the competitors took their turn to try and pull out the sword but none of them were successful. At the age of 15, Arthur Pendragon was brought to the sword in the stone and drew the sword out. Soon he was named the King.
When the Romans left Britain, the Saxon’s were slowly taking over the country. Arthur gathered knights and fought against the Saxons. After loads of battles, finally the Saxon’s were defeated in a victory at Mount Badon.
Arthur built a tough castle in a place named Camelot. He had many strong knights that would meet at a Round Table. Together they fought battles, fought beasts, and helped people in need. They also set off in search of a long lost treasure that was believed to cure any illness and this quest was called ‘The Quest for The Holy Grail’. Merlin helped Arthur acquired a magical sword called ‘Excalibur’ from The Lady Of The Lake. With this sword, he defeated many enemies.
Arthur Pendragon had a beautiful wife named Queen Guinevere. He also had a gorgeous half sister named Morgan le Fay who had turned to the dark side.
Peace had come over the country but unfortunately a civil war had broken out in the court of Camelot. This left Arthur seriously wounded in a final battle. He was placed on a boat where he drifted down a river. 3 mysterious people healed his wounds but his body was never found. They say that he is resting under a hill with the knights from the Round Table, ready to save the country once more.
